First Day

I moved up to Hoboken last Sunday. I wanted to give myself a week to get settled in. Things have been great so far. I've met some interesting and pretty amazing people. I have fell in love with Hoboken. I've never found a place where you can fit in so quickly and feel so safe. Not to mention having Carlos Bakery two blocks away.

Day 1:  Today was my first day. My second time to take on the subway. I have already blown a twenty dollar metro card getting lost. I guess you live and learn. The subway is a pretty amazing place to me. Everyone running around like robots oblivious to everything going on around them. They enter the subway cars never to look up from their newspapers, books, and phones. Out of all the times I've been lost so far I have had two people ask if I need help. Both were women and both were not from the U.S. I've just learned to smile at people and if they smile back that's who to ask for directions.

I made it ok to Sara's office to pick up some stuff. Leaving was a different story. I spent about an hour trying to find a hardware store to get a key a made. I finally gave up and found my way back to the subway to go to the office. Fortunately on my way I stumbled across a hardware store. All that getting lost for nothing. I got to the office and there was plenty for me to do. I am so excited to be put in charge of designing the current office space. Thank you UNA for the interior design class. I also am so excited to get the chance to have input in revamping the company and designing the new line. I have lots of ideas floating around up there.
I also will be assisting in helping with the Sara Claire and Esther Blog and Twitter accounts.

I left work early today to run some errands in the garment district. I first had to go to a pattern store to drop off a dress and then to a fabric store to pick up a swatch. Its so amazing to walk in the footsteps of some of the greats like Vera Wang and Betsey Johnson. I am now doing my homework. I'm reading The Fashion Designers Survival Guide. Hopefully it will give me some insight. It was a great day, but my feet hurt. I now know why there aren't many fat New Yorkers.
